Got questions?
This is a great place to start if you’re not sure where to start! These are some of the most common questions we get asked about graphic design, websites, logos and branding – things every business needs, but not every business understands. If you have any other questions or you’d like to discuss your job in detail, please get in touch, or if you’re ready to get started, just fill out a brief sheet and we’ll get back to you.
How much does a logo cost?
Designing a logo usually takes seven to ten hours, which we charge at our standard rate of $115/hr. This time includes research, consultation, creative strategy and finally the design work itself.
If you’re looking for a logo, it’s worth considering how you’re going to use it. We would normally recommend that we look at your entire brand (see What is Branding? below) if you’d like a logo designed. Think of it like trying to sell your car on the merits of a new paint job – does the rest of what you’re offering match up to the shiny exterior?
How much does a website cost?
This will depend on the website! The size of the site, the quantity of material required, research, the type of design work you need, extra amendments, any copywriting and specific requirements like e-Commerce solutions for online trading will all affect the price of your website.
How much do we charge
We charge an hourly rate of $115 and our quote is an estimate of our time. All of our quotes account for two rounds of amendments and any work beyond this is charged at our consultancy rate of $115. If you have a budget for your project, please let us know and we will discuss how to work within your required costing.
What is branding?
Branding is the public perception of who you are as a business – and it should match up with the actual experience of using your products and services! Your logo is part of your brand, to the extent that it makes you uniquely recognisable, but by itself it won’t bring customer love and loyalty.
When we design your brand, we see it as the meeting point of three main elements:
- Personality: This is your business identity. It includes your business values, your mission and how you interact with staff and customers.
- Product: This is what you do to make money.
- Touch points: Every interaction a potential customer has with your brand is a touch point, from your advertising to your website and the experience of calling your office.
As you can see, a great brand requires a lot of strategy and a lot of consistency! If you’d like to discuss your brand, please contact us.
What is a domain name?
The domain name is the ‘address’ people use to find your website online (e.g. www.yourwebsite.com.au). It has to be unique and you should choose one that is relevant to your business.
You will pay a yearly lease for your domain name and you’ll need one to set up a website and an email address. We can do this for you as part of building your website if you aren’t sure!
What is hosting?
Hosting is essentially the vacant ‘block of land’ that you build your website on.
Again, you will need to pay a yearly lease on it, and not all hosting providers are the same! Reliability, support and appropriate size for your requirements are all things to consider. We will need to set this up before we can start building your site.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It refers to the various techniques used to make your website appear closer to the top of the results from online search engines like Google and Bing.
There are a number of things you can do to increase your website’s ranking chances. Search engines are understandably quite cagey about exactly how they work, but everything from your website content, links from other related websites, social media pages and blogs, down to your tone and website design can be geared towards pushing you closer to the top spot on the results page.
What is website content?
Your website content is essentially all of the words and information that fills your website. It includes images, video, text and sound – everything that goes into the user experience of your site.
How long will my job take?
Again this will depend on the size of your project.
In your initial brief we will discuss any deadlines you may have and work out an appropriate timeline for your project. We always account for two rounds of amendments in our scheduling and we allow for reasonable decision-making and feedback time.
Do I need an appointment?”
Yes!
All consultations require an appointment, so please give us a call to make a time to sit down and discuss your job – we can come to you if you prefer!
Can you match my existing logo/artwork/printed material?
We do our absolute best to match existing work exactly – and with excellent results – but with any reproduction, even printing, there is a certain unavoidable amount of variation.
